What Is the PokéSurvivor Fan Game?
Your favorite Pokémon handles the attacks; you handle the swarm closing around it. The PokéSurvivor fan game combines automatic combat with move switching, type matchups, and a collection of 966 playable Pokémon. If you enjoy building stronger runs while unlocking new partners, the PokéSurvivor fan game gives you that loop free in your browser, with online co-op for up to four friends.
This is a survivors-like game inspired by Vampire Survivors and Survivor.io, with Mystery Dungeon-style sprites. You move through an endless map, collect experience, and choose upgrades while wild Pokémon try to surround you. Enemy roles, changing weather, and legendary encounters give you more to manage than movement alone.
PokéSurvivor is an unofficial, nonprofit fan project with no affiliation with Nintendo, GAME FREAK, or The Pokémon Company. There are no ads or purchases, and gacha tickets cannot be bought with real money. Optional donations support server costs without granting gameplay advantages.
You can play PokéSurvivor in your browser on PC, phone, or tablet. English and Spanish are available, and mobile play uses landscape orientation.
Start as a guest to try the combat immediately. Create an account before investing in your collection: online accounts save progress in the cloud across devices, while guest progress is not saved.
Start Your Run and Learn the Move Switcher
The opening personality questionnaire suggests a partner, but you can choose another. Starters from all nine regions are available alongside Psyduck and Slowpoke. Pick a Pokémon you want to learn, then concentrate on its starting attack before experimenting with the whole roster.

The essential distinction in the PokéSurvivor fan game is that your active move attacks automatically. Other move slots give you options to switch into. Simply learning more attacks does not make every slot fire simultaneously.
| Action | PC controls | Phone or tablet controls |
|---|---|---|
| Move | WASD or arrow keys | Drag your finger anywhere on the screen |
| Switch moves | 1–4, Q/E, or click a move icon | Tap a move icon |
| Pause | Esc | Tap the top-right pause button |
Practice switching while the battlefield is manageable. A damage move, a buff, and a close-range attack ask for different positioning, so check your active move whenever you change your loadout.
Follow this sequence during your opening runs:
- Keep moving in wide circles. Draw enemies behind you while preserving an escape route.
- Collect the experience you create. Walk over dropped XP instead of leaving it inside a growing crowd.
- Choose cards for the immediate problem. Upgrade damage when enemies stop falling; take movement or defensive options when they keep catching you.
- Read ground warnings. Leave filling circles and lines before the attack lands.
- Target support enemies. Remove healers and shield-casters before their allies become harder to clear.
Avoid charging into a packed group for one pickup. Circle back after your attack creates room. Watch terrain and obstacles as closely as the enemies: an escape route only helps if you can actually move through it.
Build Around Moves, Types, and One Held Item
Leveling up offers three cards. Those choices can teach a new move, improve an existing attack, or boost your Pokémon. Strengthen the attack you actively use before spreading upgrades across several moves that still need investment.
Move evolution adds another goal. Max out a move and obtain its required upgrade during the run to open its evolution path. Ember can become Fire Blast, while Bubble can become Surf. Keep move evolution separate from collecting evolved Pokémon: upgrading an attack changes your combat tools.
The PokéSurvivor fan game also adjusts familiar Pokémon type rules for survival combat:
| Matchup | Damage multiplier |
|---|---|
| Super effective | ×1.6 |
| Not very effective | ×0.6 |
| Normally immune | ×0.3 |
| Dual-type matchup | Multipliers combine, capped at ×2.4 |
These rules apply to attacks in both directions. Switch to an effective move against the enemies ahead, and avoid assuming that a familiar immunity will prevent all damage.
Weather changes the calculation again. Rain strengthens Water and weakens Fire; harsh sunlight reverses that relationship. Sandstorms favor Rock, Ground, and Steel. Snow strengthens Ice while other types suffer and slow down, and fog strengthens Ghost, Fairy, and Psychic.
Check the weather before committing to a difficult fight. If your current attack loses effectiveness, switch to another available move rather than continuing with the same damage plan.
Read the Item Tradeoff Before Equipping It
Held items come from chests and bosses. You can carry one at a time, and finding another means choosing which to keep. Each lasts for the remainder of that run.
| Held item | Effect |
|---|---|
| Leftovers | Restores 1.5% of HP per second |
| Choice Band | Adds 40% damage and prevents move switching |
| Quick Claw | Reduces cooldown on all moves by 20% |
| Focus Sash | Leaves you at 1 HP after a lethal hit, available every 60 seconds |
| Lucky Egg | Adds 30% experience |
| Life Orb | Adds 30% damage, but attacks cost some HP |
| Choice Scarf | Adds 35% speed |
| Assault Vest | Provides 20% damage reduction |
Read Choice Band especially carefully. Commit to it when you intend to keep using one damaging move; avoid locking yourself into a utility move when you need to switch back to attacking.
Watch your health after taking Life Orb. Its damage bonus comes with an ongoing cost, so preserve space instead of treating the extra power as permission to absorb hits.
Unlock Pokémon and Hunt Shinies Without Spending Money
The PokéSurvivor fan game has 966 playable Pokémon across nine regions, from Kanto through Paldea. That is its playable roster, rather than every species in the mainline franchise.
Regional gacha pools let you direct your collection toward a particular generation. Find the region containing the Pokémon you want, then spend your earned tickets there. Pulls are random, so choose a pool based on your collection goal rather than expecting a specific partner immediately.
Regular enemies occasionally drop tickets. Bosses can supply them too, and winning a legendary rift awards a ×10 ticket. Daily and weekly missions and achievements provide additional progression goals.
Shinies offer two collection routes with different odds:
| Shiny route | Chance | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Wild Pokémon | 1 in 4,096 per spawn | Spot the sparkling Pokémon and defeat it to collect it |
| Regional gacha | 1 in 100 per pull | Spend tickets earned through gameplay |
A 1% gacha chance does not guarantee a shiny within 100 pulls. Treat each pull as another chance, and keep working toward normal collection goals alongside shiny hunting.
When a wild shiny appears, clear a route before chasing it. Secure the encounter without running directly through the surrounding horde. Once you own a partner’s shiny form, select that form in your collection to play with it. Duplicate shinies award triple PokéCoins.
Spend Coins on the Partner You Actually Use
Permanent upgrades belong to individual Pokémon. Coins spent improving one partner do not strengthen the rest of your collection.
Try a few partners before committing heavily, then focus your upgrades on the one you enjoy controlling. Address the weakness ending your runs: invest in movement when enemies catch you, durability when hits overwhelm you, or damage when crowds stop clearing.
Keep that distinction in mind when switching to a newly unlocked Pokémon. A familiar, upgraded partner and a fresh unlock are starting from different levels of permanent investment.
Enter Legendary Rifts and Use Bonds
Rifts are rare portals that move you into a legendary battle. The PokéSurvivor fan game includes 18 type-themed arenas and 87 Pokémon in its legendary encounter roster.
Each arena has terrain and weather to account for. Lava burns, ice is slippery, and water slows movement. For dual-type legendaries, the arena uses one of their types at random.
Before entering, check three things:
- Health: Leave yourself enough room to survive mistakes.
- Damage: Keep an attack ready that can handle the encounter.
- Movement: Account for terrain that could disrupt your escape route.
Win the fight to receive a ×10 gacha ticket. Fall during the challenge and you return to the main map without the reward. A rift defeat does not end the entire run.
Legendary victories also grant Bonds. A Bond links two moves so they fire together while occupying a single slot, with up to four Bonds available at once.
Use that system to combine an attack with another move you want running alongside it. For example, linking a damaging move with a buff removes the need to keep switching between those two moves.
After returning to the map, check your surroundings immediately. Reestablish a safe movement route before heading toward another chest or experience cluster.
Play Co-op and Set Goals Beyond Survival
Online co-op in the PokéSurvivor fan game supports up to four players. Create an account, choose a nickname, add friends, and invite them into a room before starting.
Experience is shared. You can revive a fallen teammate by standing beside them, and the group enters rifts together. Coordinate movement so a downed player remains reachable rather than leaving them surrounded far behind the team.
Clear nearby enemies before attempting a revive. Draw the crowd away, then return with enough space to stand beside your teammate.
The game continues during the group pause menu, so move to safety before opening it. The privacy settings also matter: co-op connects teammates’ browsers directly, which can expose IP addresses to one another. Play group sessions with people you know.
For longer-term goals, the achievement catalog contains 130 achievements covering collection, survival, combat, rifts, legendary defeats, missions, and group play. Medals, tickets, coins, and selected profile titles give you reasons to pursue more than a longer survival time.
Pick one objective before launching: evolve a move, defeat a boss, finish a mission, or collect more Pokémon from a chosen region. Afterward, review what ended the run and adjust your upgrades before trying again.
